Shannon Soper is a digital artist and communications strategist living in Los Angeles. She is currently Director of Creative & Marketing at The Bail Project.

Shannon combats “out of sight, out of mind” mentalities by visualizing difficult and deliberately hidden issues, such as cash bail. Her creative approach is holistic, as a director, writer, photographer, videographer, editor, graphic designer, and web developer.

Previous to TBP, Shannon worked as Communications Director at Dignity and Power Now where she participated in the creation of L.A. County’s first civilian oversight board (overseeing the largest sheriff’s department in the world), stopped the construction of two new jails, and advocated for reallocating resources into community care through initiatives like JusticeLA and Reform L.A. Jails. In addition, Shannon has done creative and strategic work for prominent movements and social justice figures, including Black Lives Matter, #MeToo, Patrisse Cullors, Angela Davis, Tarana Burke, Jane Fonda, and Bernie Sanders.

Shannon’s professional activism began at PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) as College Campaigns Strategist where she helped increase vegan food options and reduce animal testing at campuses across the continent. She also traveled for PETA and advocated for animal rights nationwide on concert tours including the Vans Warped Tour.
